OpenAI CLI, the official command-line tool for OpenAI REST API, allows users to interact with OpenAI services directly from the terminal. After installation, users can set the OPENAI_API_KEY and use the CLI to perform various tasks such as creating responses, uploading files, creating batches, and generating images. It is distinct from Codex CLI, which is a coding agent. Currently, the tool is being used to enhance productivity by enabling direct API calls from the terminal, eliminating the need for a graphical interface.
